Monday-Friday; 8:00am-4:00pm

United Ability, located in the Oxmoor area of Birmingham, is a program that provides a variety of services to individuals with disabilities.  We are currently seeking candidates to join our team as a Administrative Assistant in our Adult Day Program. Collaborating with other team members, you will:

  • Perform all aspects necessary for timely and accurate billing within the Adult Day Services.
  • Prepares and records accounts payable in software system and United Ability tracking.
  • Assist scanning documents into software system(s) and update as required.
  • Orders all office and medical supplies.  Completes purchase orders. 
  • Maintains and updates Adult Day databases with all information needed for Impact Report and other data tracked annually.
  • Assists with organizational reporting both internal and external for Adult Day Services.
  • Prepares correspondence, private pay billing, travel expense reports, etc.
  • Performs general clerical duties including typing, basic bookkeeping, copying, faxing, mailing, and filing.
  • Supervises receptionist.

Applicant general qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Excellent written, oral, and electronic communication skills required.
  • At least one year of experience working directly w/persons with intellectual or other developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Previous experience as an Administrative Assistant preferred.
  • Previous experience with data entry, basic bookkeeping, and excel spreadsheets preferred
  • Ability to learn and maintain software programs unique to UA required.
  • Experience in speaking with individuals on the telephone and in-person with a positive and professional attitude required.
  • Knowledge of disability related issues and familiarity with specific disabilities preferred.
  • Experience with Therap preferred.
  • Knowledge of Department of Mental Health preferred.
