Classification Minimum Requirements:

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS). Must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.

Job Description:

The Resident Assistant role is a dynamic student leadership opportunity that allows you to make a meaningful impact on the on-campus experience while developing transferable professional skills. Resident Assistants (RA) are community builders and peer leaders who support residents, foster belonging, and serve as a key connection to campus resources. You’ll gain hands-on experience in working as a member of a team, incident response, and community engagement while creating a supportive and connected living environment for fellow Gators.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement

  • Implement programs and intentional interactions that foster relationships, resident engagement, belonging and connection.
  • Interact with residents to support their transition to UF and ongoing success.
  • Assist with floor and hall meetings, communicating updates, expectations, and community standards.

Student Support

  • Serve as a resource referring residents to appropriate campus resources, services, and support offices
  • Assist in conflict resolution among residents by educating residents about housing policies and the mediation process

Leadership

  • Model responsible decision-making and behavior that supports personal and academic success.
  • Foster a culture of continuous care by serving in an on-call role and supporting our students through effective emergency management procedures.
  • Educate residents on Housing & Residence Life policies, community standards, and the Student Honor Code and Student Conduct Code.

 

Expected Salary:

The Resident Assistant will receive:

  • $6,700 for a 9-month appointment
  • Semesterly housing rental agreement will be at the established rental rate for the Resident Assistant position
Required Qualifications:
  • Must be a current University of Florida student eligible for student employment which includes a successful conduct/honor code review
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative UF GPA of 2.5 (undergraduate) or 3.0 (graduate), as well as the required semester GPA
  • Maintain approximately 20 hours per week of availability for Housing & Residence Life responsibilities
Preferred:
  • Committed to facilitating interaction among members of the university community
  • At least one semester experience (online or in-person) at the University of Florida
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, manage time, and lead others
  • Demonstrated professionalism, dependability, and timeliness
  • Ability to work well within a team and with individuals
