About the role

POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior Accountant provides financial support services to departments and employees within YPO, including general ledger account and bank reconciliations, preparation of and analyzing journal entries, month end and audit reporting, researching GAAP requirements and special projects in a multi-currency environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare in timely manner assigned reconciliations of balance sheet accounts including resolution of reconciling items.

  • Analyze and accurately record various types of assigned journal entries including multi-currency entries.

  • Evaluate and provide variance explanations for various line items on month-end and year-to-date financial statements as assigned.

  • Provide support to the Accounting Manager and Controller during the year on various financial projects, inquiries, analysis and annual financial audit.

  • Serve as Accounting Partner and advisor to managers of assigned departments and programs. Responsibilities include monthly presentation of financial data, responding to inquiries, analyzing and research transactions, entering correction entries, providing historical reports and analysis, etc. as needed.

  • Complete various assigned audit schedules, reports and yearend adjusting entries as assigned.

  • Evaluate and approve payment requests for assigned departments and programs.

  • Research and maintain current knowledge of GAAP requirements for accurate reporting of various issues.

  • Create and streamline processes to improve accuracy and time management of current procedures.

  • Manage special projects as assigned.

  • Crosstrain to learn other roles in the Finance Department.

  • Accountable for applying YPO Policies & Procedures consistently and accurately.

EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND

  • 5+ years progressive accounting experience.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel.

  • Multi-currency accounting experience preferred.

  • Accounting software experience required, Certinia experience preferred.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in accounting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work flexible and/or extended hours as needed to accommodate members and team members in multiple time zones.

  • Ability to work for extended hours at a computer screen.

  • Willingness and ability to travel, domestically and internationally, without restrictions, approximately 5% per year.
