About the role

The Card Accounting and Settlement team is part of the Finance team that focuses on the card accounting support for UMB. Within the Finance environment, this team interacts with internal partners and external vendors to evaluate accounting issues and analyze and develop conclusions. With our robust training to provide extensive UMB and card settlement knowledge, the Card Accounting and Settlement team prepares accounting entries to support a wide variety of card programs.   

The Card Accounting and Settlement Analyst has a specific and impactful function for UMB card program growth to provide strategic thinking and accounting insight. The Card Accounting and Settlement team is the subject matter experts that assist to provide accounting support, card program balancing

As the Card Accounting and Settlement Analyst, you will be responsible for providing quality support for the card settlement process to multiple departments through various responsibilities. This includes ensuring proper posting of general ledger or DDA entries as a result of daily settlement. Researching and resolving monetary and non-monetary exceptions through the use of system generated reports and documented procedures will also be key functions. This role is hybrid (Tues/Wed/Thur on-site) at our downtown Kansas City location.

How you’ll spend your time:  

  • Ensure proper posting of general ledger or DDA entries as a result of daily settlement.
  • Research and resolve monetary and non-monetary exceptions through the use of system generated reports and documented procedures.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in the funds flow process for various 3rd Party Processors and Visa/MasterCard operating rules and regulation.
  • Prepare and send ACH transactions.
  • Assist department manager in executing the training plans for new employees.
  • Complete month end reconciliations for assigned general ledger and DDA accounts.
  • Support department manager in leading special projects either driven by Card Settlement or where Card Settlement will need to be involved with various other internal or external business partners, to include attending meetings and representing Settlement in a professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • You possess a bachelor’s degree in either Accounting, Finance or related area OR
  • You have at least 3 years of work experience in Accounting or Finance.

Bonus points if:

  • You have experience with third- party card processors.
  • You have finance experience in banking.
  • You have experience with PeopleSoft.

Compensation Range:

Minimum: $44,790.00 - Maximum: $103,820.00
