National Grid is hiring a Lead Analyst, Business Development for our Clean Energy Development team in Waltham, Massachusetts. This is a hybrid position with office visits at least 1-2 times a week, sometimes more, plus storm duty. US Colleagues must reside within our existing footprint, which includes contiguous states (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont).

Job Purpose

To enable the clean energy transition by building out the electricity infrastructure needed to power electric vehicles and by deploying energy storage systems.

Key Accountabilities

  • Research, model and analyze clean energy development opportunities, future technology, asset development strategies and other market opportunities
  • Participate in industry associations and discussions related to energy storage and clean transportation
  • Review external studies and identify opportunities to apply learnings to CED opportunities
  • Support internal stakeholders
  • Maintain work records: fact-based reports, feasibility reports, strategy papers, stakeholder plans, work plans, risk, action & decision logs
  • Maintain development pipeline and support strategic business planning process
  • Identify potential projects and innovative ideas to enable large-scale electric vehicle charging and deploy energy storage 
  • Originate and develop projects that lead to T&D infrastructure deployment
  • Meet with external stakeholders and help form partnerships
  • Present at industry conferences

Interpersonal- Experience Required

  •  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate key messages to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to research, identify, analyze and summarize both quantitative and qualitative information.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering, clean energy, or relevant discipline
  • A minimum of 5+ years’ relevant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of electric utility industry in the Northeast
  • Understanding of technical, commercial, regulatory and market issues affecting the utility industry
  • Knowledge of energy storage and clean transportation technologies
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the clean energy sector
  • Experience in cost, risk and financial appraisal to support business case development
  • Strong project management skills as well as strong writing and presentation development skills
  • Superb ability to negotiate, problem solve and influence key stakeholders resulting in desired outcomes and delivering strong deals for National Grid
  • Exceptional inter-personal, relationship building and collaboration skills at all levels
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Confidence in public speaking engagements
  • Management consulting experience preferred

Salary: $116,000 - $137,000

 

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
