Flex Staff - By Hour-Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health

The Industrial Hygienist II evaluates workplace environmental factors, as requested by clinic physicians, patients, health and safety representatives or individuals contacting the clinic. Such evaluations may include on-site job evaluations, interviews of patients or individuals, either in person or via the phone. The Industrial Hygienist II is devoted to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, prevention, and control of those environmental factors or stresses arising in or from the workplace which may cause sickness, impaired health and well-being, or significant discomfort among workers or among citizens of the community.

 

• Gives technical advice to staff and patients to assist in identifying the cause of, and methods to reduce, occupational and environmental illness 
• Conducts site investigations in order to identify the cause of, and methods to reduce, occupational and environmental illness.
• Assists clinic staff and patients in providing education and training about environmental and occupational hazards.
• Conducts educational sessions for groups of workers on occupational and environmental health issues.
• Give technical advice to members of the public who are concerned about evaluating and reducing exposures to occupational and environmental hazards.
• Summarizes activities for submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to grant administrators and to advisory boards.
• Gives input to clinic staff on policies involving industrial hygiene activities
• Gives input to other clinic activities that require industrial hygiene expertise, such as comments on Federal and local legislation, patient questionnaires, etc.
• Directs courses or gives classes on health and safety related subjects to MPH students in Department.
• Advises staff of Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit on industrial hygiene matters.
• Performs other related duties. 

• Depending on the role, a minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required as per MS Health System hiring policy. Otherwise, Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D as applicable.
• Experience relevant to the position.
