Description
The Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine at the University of Washington invites applications for a full-time Advanced Practice Provider for our Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and Acute Care Services. This is a clinical faculty position at the rank of Teaching Associate serving the CCU/CICU, General Cardiology, Structural and Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology and Advanced Heart Failure and Post-Heart Transplant services. Clinical faculty hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms.
The base salary range for this position will be $10,833 - $15,175 per month ($130,000 - $182,095 per year), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Other compensation associated with this position may include Temporary Pay Supplements or an Administrative Supplement.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Clinical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with an inter-professional team including APPs, cardiologists, fellows and residents to provide high quality, safe, patient- and family-centered care in a premier institution
- Provide a full spectrum of independent as well as collaborative direct patient care to adult Cardiology patients in the inpatient setting (including critical care, advanced heart failure and heart transplant, structural and interventional post-procedural care, electrophysiology post-procedural, and general cardiology patients)
- Lead cardiac arrest management teams in the role of Cardiac Code Team Leader
- Manage both temporary and durable cardiac assist devices
- Perform procedures such as central line placement, arterial line placement and others
- Collaborate with inpatient consultants
- Participate in quality improvement projects and process improvement activities
- Participate in and support the Division’s education, research and quality initiatives
- Provide education and mentorship to fellow team members, staff, residents, fellows, nurses and students alike
- Attend weekly Cardiology Grand Rounds and clinical case conferences and quarterly faculty meetings
- Follow UWMC Professional Behavior Policy and Procedures
- Perform other related duties as required
This position reports to the Cardiology Senior Lead APP, Service Director of Cardiology, CICU Director, and CICU APP Lead. This position includes inpatient duties and is a mix of 10 and 12 hour shifts, 7 days per week at UWMC Montlake or Northwest.
Qualifications
Applicants for this full-time clinical faculty position must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Graduate Degree from and accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program, or foreign equivalent
- Current and valid state Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nursing Licensure for ARNP or Physician Assistant licensure for PA-C
- Nationally certified ARNP/PA with DEA
- Highly reliable, flexible provider with proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment
- Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in the care of cardiology patients
- Basic computer knowledge and command of basic personal computer skills
- Advanced Practice Provider training and experience in inpatient cardiology and/or critical care management
- ACLS Certification
