Overview
The Occupational Therapist provides direct patient care in inpatient and/or outpatient areas of BronxCare evaluating and managing patients with physical disability due to illness or injury. In collaboration with other health care personnel, the Occupational Therapist assesses patients’ physical and functional conditions, develops and implements individualized treatment plans, administers occupational therapy treatments to relieve pain and improve patients' mobility and function, provides education to patient,family, and caregivers, and supervises the work of occupational therapy assistants.
Responsibilities
- Assist Administrative Director in program development for occupational therapy. Assist Administrative Director in implementation of occupational therapy programs.
- Advise as to equipment needs for OT; assist with purchase orders.
- Evaluate and treat patients in O.T.
- Plan for future staffing needs in occupational therapy.
- Supervisory responsibility of staff occupational therapists and COTA’s.
- Orient new occupational therapists to department.
- Attend pertinent meetings and clinics.
- Participate in in-service program.
- Participate in Performance Improvement Committee Meetings. Assist in related tasks.
Qualifications
Requirement- achelor of Science
Requirement- New York State Licens in Occupational Therpy
2 - 4 years experience in direct care occupational therapy in the last 10 years.
