Purpose of the Position:
The Research & Development Grant Coordinator plays a crucial role in identifying and securing grant opportunities that align with the institution's mission. This position involves conducting funding research, identifying and advocating for potential grant funding opportunities, preparing proposals, and supporting the development of applications, thereby enhancing the institution's ability to obtain funding for various initiatives. Additionally, the role coordinates grant development tasks and manages information databases to support organizational and partner projects.

 

What You’ll Do:

  1. Identify and Evaluate Grant Opportunities: Seeks out relevant grant opportunities, including staying informed about funding sources, trends, and requirements. Strategically vet opportunities that align with the organization’s goals, mission, objectives, and vision.
  2. Present and Advocate for Appropriate Grant Opportunities: Identify and select the most suitable grant opportunities to recommend and advocate for with key internal decision-makers. This includes gathering, preparing, and presenting information that demonstrates the merits of these opportunities, as well as addressing any questions that arise during the decision-making process.
  3. Grant Proposal Development: Manage the planning and preparation of grant proposals for one or more departments, including administrative and general financial support. This involves utilizing independent judgement to ensure grant application development is efficient and allows for high-quality application preparation.
  4. Grant Documentation Support: Leverage past experience and acquired skills to oversee and support the creation, design, formatting, and preparation of supplemental grant documentation, including statistical summaries and graphics.
  5. Database and System Management: Develop and maintain databases and systems for tracking grant proposals, awards, and related information. Generate and distribute reports, studies, and analyses. Both functions require the Grant Coordinator to act autonomously to develop discretionary systems of tracking and distribution to ensure effective application and grant strategy development.
  6. Reference Material Library Maintenance: Independently create and manage a comprehensive library of reference materials, including funding agency requirements, forms, resumes, job descriptions, curriculum vitae, organizational narratives, and abstracts.
  7. Grant Research Library Management: Oversee the Research & Development Team’s grant research libraries, goal tracking spreadsheets, calendar, and submission timelines.  
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience researching grant funding from federal, state, foundation, and corporate sources.
  • Proficiency in developing statistical materials, including graphs, charts, and reports.
  • Experience coordinating a team in a professional environment.
