Summary
This position involves assisting in the organization and supervision of children (ages 5-10) in a summer day camp setting. Activities include arts and crafts, music and dance, sports and games, special events, field trips, and more. Cleaning and sanitizing duties are also required. Staff must be available to work for all six weeks of the camp, with Junior Counselors working between 20-40 hours per week. Camp dates are from June 29 to August 7.
Examples of duties
Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that engage and entertain elementary-aged children.
Create a safe and inclusive environment that promotes teamwork, cooperation, and respect.
Assist with the setup and cleanup of daily activities and ensure a clean, organized camp space.
Actively participate in all camp events, including field trips, water park visits, themed days, dodgeball, bowling, movies, and more.
Collaborate with fellow counselors and camp staff to ensure a positive and enjoyable experience for all campers.
Communicate regularly with parents, providing updates on their child’s participation and camp activities.

Qualifications
Must be at least 16 years old and have graduated from high school or equivalent.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong communication skills to interact with children, parents, and the public.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay organized in a dynamic environment.
Capacity to create a nurturing and positive environment for young children.
Additional Desirable Qualification:
Previous experience in recreation programs, summer camps, or childcare is preferred.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
Tuberculosis (TB) screening required for employment.
Must pass a background check.
