Job Summary

The Clinical Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for providing quality improvement education, training, coaching, and technical assistance for clinical staff providing services to women and infants receiving care in Georgia birthing facilities. Assist development of maternal health content for public, providers, Maternal Health Task Force, and State Maternal Health Innovation (MHI) staff. Educate clinical staff on AIM Patient Safety Bundles and facilitate implementation at NGHS and other health facilities across Georgia, on site and virtual. Actively participate in statewide initiatives of professional organizations, e.g., GaPQC, AWHONN, etc. Liaison with nursing and physician leaders, community organizations, public health professionals, and payors across the state. Work with the MHI Grant team to complete initiatives. This position reports to the Clinical Outreach Manager for day-to-day operations, otherwise to the MHI Program Director. Requires travel within Georgia, up to 80%.

Minimum Job Qualifications

• Licensure or other certifications: Registered Nurse in Georgia. Inpatient Obstetrics (RNC-OB). AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Instructor.

• Educational Requirements: Bachelors of Nursing Degree.

• Minimum Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in Labor/Delivery in hospital setting with 1 year of leading clinical Quality improvement and Perinatal Education.

Preferred Job Qualifications

• Preferred Licensure or other certifications: Specialty certification: Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM), Obstetric and Neonatal Quality and Safety (C-ONQC)) preferred. AWHONN OPS Instructor preferred.

• Preferred Educational Requirements: Master’s or doctorate degree in Nursing preferred.

• Preferred Experience: Seven (7) or more years of experience in Labor/Delivery with two (2) years leading clinical Quality Improvement and Perinatal education preferred.

• Clinical competence in perinatal nursing practice 

• Experience implementing quality improvement initiatives in Women's and Children's Service Line

• Experience implementing AIM Patient Safety Bundles

• Exercise good judgment and problem-solving skills involving multiple stakeholders

• Ability to work with clinical and operational staff across service lines (Cardiology, ED, EMS, Primary Care, etc.)

• Demonstrates the ability to anticipate needs and flex accordingly 

• Strong oral and written skills

• Ability to address clinical and non-clinical audiences

• Competency in developing and presenting clinical educational sessions

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

• Serves in an outreach educator role for the state’s birthing facilities in close collaboration with the Regional Perinatal Centers (RPCs) and the Georgia Perinatal Quality Collaborative (GaPQC). 

• Works collaboratively with the RPC Medical Directors and Outreach Educators by providing guidance and support with program implementation, clinical quality improvement, and education activities. 

• Educates clinical staff on AIM Patient Safety Bundles and facilitate implementation at health facilities across Georgia, on site and virtual.

• Assists in the creation of training materials for clinical and non-clinical audiences on Maternal Health priority areas for Georgia.

• Develops Maternal Health content for public, providers, and Maternal Health Task Force members for dissemination via website, training, webinars, etc.

• Actively participates in statewide initiatives of professional organizations, e.g. GaPQC, AWHONN.

• Liaisons with nursing and physician leaders, community organizations, public health professionals, and payors across state.

• Collaborates with Georgia Maternal Health Task Force members by facilitating and organizing quarterly meetings, Subcommittee projects, annual retreat, and related activities.

• Reviews Strategic Plan of Georgia Maternal Health Task Force.

• Assists MHI Project Director with grant-related deliverables and tasks.
