About the role
Hood Distribution, established in 1899, is a wholesale distributor of hardwood lumber & plywood as well as related specialty products. We currently have twenty-three locations, providing distribution into the eastern US as well as the Caribbean markets. Our primary customers turn our products into something special. We are looking for a Warehouse/Mix Room Associate to join our growing team in Detroit, MI. Warehouse Associates retrieve, restock, load, and unload material in the wood industry, including, but not limited to, particleboard, high-pressure laminate, wood finishes and stains, solid surfaces, and other professional woodworking supplies.
In addition to warehouse duties this individual would also work in our mix room helping tint and matching of pain and stain colors, make presentation samples for customers. They would help provide technical support on the different finishing products and applications.

Job Responsibilities:
- Proficiently pulling customer orders for next day delivery and customer pick-up.
- Effectively unloading inbound freight by either hand or forklift, verifying the dropped-off material, and entering items into the system.
- Restocking and verifying inventory in proper bin locations.
- Help tint and matching of paints and stan colors.
- Make presentation samples for customers.
- Provide technical support on the different finishing products and applications.
- Maintaining a healthy warehouse environment.
- Proven warehouse experience (minimum 1 year)
- Prior experience and ability to operate a forklift (minimum 1 year)
- Knowledge of RF (Radio Frequency) device and computer tools
- Must be able to lift 50-100lbs
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- Great interpersonal skills – a team player
- Forklift Certification
- Great oral and written communication skills
- Good attention to detail
- Must be able to adapt to change
