Overview
SRI’s Center for Innovation Strategy and Policy (CISP) helps organizations, regions, and countries achieve long-term economic and social impact through effective investments in science, technology, and innovation. Based in Arlington, VA, conveniently located near the Rosslyn Metro, the Center is staffed with experienced professionals who conduct research, analysis, program evaluation, and strategic planning for private and public sector clients around the world. Our team works with our partners and clients in the following areas:
- Complex Program Evaluation
- Innovation Strategy and Policy
- Science and Technology Policy
- Technology-Based Economic Development Strategy and Policy
As part of CISP, the Senior Project Leader will take intellectual and technical responsibility for innovation and science policy research, analysis, strategic planning, and evaluations for a diverse range of clients. The Senior Project Leader will also play a central role in center leadership, helping to set policy, recruit and develop staff, and meet financial goals. This role is able to work a hybrid work schedule, based in the Washington D.C. metro area.
Responsibilities
- Lead individual large and/or multiple small projects for SRI clients.
- Manage projects for excellent client satisfaction, subject matter superiority, and financial success.
- Contribute to writing strong, winning concept papers and proposals.
- Interface directly with clients.
- Develop strategic insights, conceptual frameworks, and novel approaches for client projects and challenges.
- Deliver high quality, on-time, and on-budget deliverables to clients
- Present analysis, findings, and recommendations to client staff and leadership.
- Delegate to, direct, and supervise staff.
- Develop junior and mid-level staff.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of policy work experience related to science, technology, and innovation within one or more of the following domains: science and innovation policy, program evaluation, economic analysis, and technology transfer and commercialization.
- Experience with strategic planning for existing and new-to-world institutions preferred
- 10 years experience U.S. Federal science and technology programs/contracts support
- Experience working with international clients
- PhD or master’s in public policy, business administration or other policy-oriented field in the social sciences, with emphasis on science, technology, and/or economic development contexts.
- Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering field preferred
- Must have U.S. Citizenship due to government contract requirements.
The salary range is: $114,813-$152,127. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
