Full-time, year-round - Camp Director/Coordinator, hybrid work environment when not at camp

  

The Coordinator, Outdoor Girl Experience is responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of program events and offerings that provide high-quality activities for girls aligned with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) across venues throughout the region, with a special focus on GSNEO camp properties. This highly organized individual will manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure efficient coordination of all logistics.


The role requires recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers and staff who deliver programs directly to girls. Additionally, the incumbent will serve as the seasonal camp director, living on-site during resident camp sessions. Under the direction of the Manager, Outdoor Girl Experience, this coordinator ensures that services and support are fully integrated across the GSNEO regional area and that outdoor programs align with the GSNEO strategic plan.


Major Accountabilities:

  • Recruit, train, place, evaluate and recognize a team of volunteers that sustain outdoor program delivery and manage specialty certifications of volunteers
  • Serve as the seasonal Camp Director in the summer months
  • Work closely with Human Resources and Manager, Outdoor Girl Experience to interview, train and evaluate seasonal camp staff
  • Implement targeted program development plans utilizing membership data and demographics that align with the overall council strategic plan
  • Plan, coordinate and support facilitation of assigned outdoor programs (high/low ropes, zip line, astronomy, target sports, boating, etc.) with responsibility for management of equipment and required trainings and certifications
  • Participate in planning and implementing Girl Scouting leadership development programs and events for the outdoor program participation pathway area across the council’s geographic area
  • Research alternative facilities to house programs that target diverse under-served and/or not served areas of GSNEO within an assigned regional area and ensures that the program offerings are relevant to the interests of the girls being served
  • Work closely with the service delivery team to ensure that opportunities for member recruitment and retention are maximized through outdoor programs
  • Use data from surveys and evaluations to improve and expand outdoor program offerings
  • Collaborate with key community partners and topic experts to offer unique program opportunities throughout the council service areas
  • Work with volunteers in the support of Community Day Camps
  • Work closely with Manager, Outdoor Girl Experience and Marketing staff to develop promotional materials for outdoor program
  • Uphold the council Customer Service policy and strives to ensure that all GSNEO customers receive superior service
  • Perform other duties as assigned to promote the successful implementation of GSNEO’s goals/objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or experience commensurate with degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience in managing a camp program
  • Record of successfully developing and/or managing volunteers and seasonal staff
  • High ropes and zip line experience preferred
  • Strong human relations skills such as leadership, networking and relationship building
  • Youth-oriented program background a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully handle conflict resolution at all levels with a variety of people, including external customers
  • Comprehensive demonstrable analytical, strategic thinking, and problem solving skills, including the proven ability to plan and implement in a fast-paced environment
  • Computer literacy and technical knowledge of computer software programs such as Word, Publisher, Excel and the internet
  • Proven strong budget management skills
  • Ability to communicate the written and spoken word with tact, diplomacy, and/or authority when necessary
  • Commitment to inclusiveness
  • Knowledge of the Girl Scout program preferred
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Will require travel throughout the GSNEO jurisdiction
