The Director of Patient Engagement & Advocacy,  Breast/Gyn Cancers  is responsible for strategically developing and executing the patient engagement and advocacy strategy for designated therapeutic area(s) across the medicine development lifecycle. You will work as a collaborative member of the cross-functional team to bring the patient experience and perspective into development, trial planning & recruitment, product launch as well as partner with the patient community to meet the critical information, education and advocacy needs of those affected by cancer.

 

The Director of Patient Engagement and Advocacy is tasked with a wide array of responsibilities, each contributing to the overarching goal of enhancing patient care and involvement in the medicine development process.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assess and compile patient life experience data, landscape assessments and other research to address non-clinical barriers, drivers, and pivotal moments for patients in their disease and treatment experience, with attention to diversity and equity.
  • Collaborate with advocacy and community groups to support information, education and awareness about unmet patient needs.
  • Identify and address barriers for patients and facilitate patient-centered research and trial design.
  • Share data and insights with cross-functional teams to enhance patient-centered development and commercial approach.
  • Foster opportunities for cross-functional learning with the patient community.
  • Define and report on metrics that demonstrate the outcomes and impact of the patient engagement and advocacy work.

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of experience in patient engagement and advocacy, preferably in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Master’s Degree in Public Health or similar preferred
  • Oncology experience – particularly in the areas of breast and gynecological, lung, GI cancers.
  • Experience leading high-impact patient engagement programs at the national level.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across internal and external stakeholders in the US and globally.
  • Strong understanding of the principles of patient engagement, patient-focused drug development and the patient advocacy landscape.
  • Strong understanding of social science, epidemiology, clinical and medical education, and the work of the advocacy community.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate complex strategies into actionable plans and execute on those plans.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and contracts.
