Position Summary
The Warehousee Supervisor will supervise and coordinate the activities of personnel in the shipping department to ensure STERIS’ standards in regards to safety, quality, costs, and delivery of shipments to our customers.
This role requires in-person work 5 days/week in Point Richmond, CA. Working Hours for this role are: 7:00am - 3:30pm (M-TH), and 6:00am-2:00pm (F).
What You'll do as a Warehouse Supervisor
- Supervise up to 5 employees to includes both Shipping Coordinators and Material Support Specialists.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities to include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Measures and maintains safety, quality, cost, delivery requirements for department.
- Coordinates with other departments to facilitate efficient operations.
- Ensures timeliness and accuracy of inventory and inventory control activities to include cycle count program.
- Provide coaching and corrective action when needed.
- Develops work goals and departmental projects and recommends measures to improve performance.
- Develops and maintain standard work procedures.
- Perform daily communication meetings.
- Manage all budget requirements.
- Ensure safety and housekeeping of working environment.
- Provide input and information needed to justify capital equipment.
- Management of department Payroll.
- Participation in Lean Manufacturing Initiatives.
- Performs other duties and assignments as directed by management.
The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed
Required
- Associate's Degree plus 2 years or more of manufacturing operations experience.
- OR High School Diploma/GED plus 10 years or more of manufacturing operations experience.
- Two years or more of supervisory experience.
Preferred
- Experience within a medical devices or regualted environment.
- Lean manufacturing experience.
Other
- Key competencies include sound business judgment, root cause and problem solving skills, conflict management, and resource allocation skills.
- Must demonstrate strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office, a working knowledge of Shop Floor Control and the AS400 System as well as Oracle.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees of organization.
- Ability to get results through influence, negotiation, and teamwork. Solid leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritize and schedule tasks to ensure timely completion of job responsibilities.
- Ability to work with all employees (including direct reports, other supervisors, managers, engineers, field reps., service reps., and Customers).
- Self motivator with the ability to motivate others; proactive.
