Sr. BMS Engineer – HW Design
SupernalAbout the role
Supernal is at the forefront of creating emerging mobility solutions that will foster the development of human-centered cities. We are designing a completely new electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft tailored to the mobility needs of future cities. This allows passengers a seamless intermodal journey that safely transports them to their final destination. We fuse research in autonomy, robotics, aviation and services to define a new category of mobility for the world’s communities. We believe in creative thinking and collaboration to help build a better mobility experience for everyone, improving people’s ability to move – whether for work or play.
What we do:
The Sr. Battery Management System Engineer - HW Design focuses on architecting, design & development of BMS HW (hardware) and electrical systems at Module level and Pack level from concept to completion for our Energy Storage Systems (ESS). The role is responsible for detailed HW design, design analysis, prototype verification and production support for testers and product manufacturability. This role works closely with other SW / Algo / Cell Engineers in the Battery team and other multi-functional team members to develop SW requirements and to support integration testing at the Powertrain, ESS system, or Cell module level.
This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.
What you can do:
- Responsible for the overall architecture and validation of high-voltage battery management system (HVBMS) at module and system level
- Responsible for functional safety and redundancy architecture of HVBMS
- Responsible for interface definition development between peer sub systems
- Develop architectures for HVBMS for new and innovative ESS solutions
- Ensure requirement traceability between BMS and other higher and lower-level system
- Develop and release board level and system level requirement specifications
- Simulate ESS and BMS using MATLAB/ Simulink and linking with aircraft level models and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems for parallel validation of BMS functionality
- Analyze the schematic and layout designs to verify its conformance to the design requirements
- Conduct and participate in design reviews, incorporate team feedback, and release design documents
