Title: Paralegal
Unit: Charity Enforcement
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications

Unit Summary:
The Charity Enforcement Unit (CEU) carries out the Office of the Attorney General’s (OAG) authority to protect the public’s interests in charitable assets by enforcing the Solicitation of Charitable Contributions Act, the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act, and other state laws. CEU reviews complaints and conducts investigations into potential wrongdoing by charities, charitable solicitors, and persons responsible for charitable funds. CEU also reviews statutorily required notices of certain litigation and other actions affecting charities and charitable assets. In addition, CEU aims to promote more effective giving and charitable operations by conducting outreach and training for donors and boards of directors.
This position will be responsible for administering CEU’s processes for all charity-related complaints and notices received by the OAG, providing all necessary administrative support for CEU’s staff, and supporting CEU litigation work.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for calls and emails made to the unit
- Receive, log, assign, and track CEU’s complaints and notices
- Prepare and send correspondence as needed for complaint and notice files
- Help draft and format court documents and discovery for litigation
- Conduct background research into complaints received
- Maintain all files for complaints and notices
- Perform legal research on issues of concern to the unit and its cases
- Assist with outreach efforts, including drafting documents, scheduling trainings/events, and coordinating any other necessary details
- Manage the unit’s calendar and assist with scheduling needs
- Provide the support needed to implement projects that will fulfill the goals of the unit
- Assist with other administrative matters, such as ordering supplies, booking travel, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of a paralegal program or comparable education and/or experience necessary to meet the responsibilities of a paralegal
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Pro
- Excellent spelling, grammar and proofreading skills
