About the Role

Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies.

We’re looking for a Lead Data Scientist / Statistician, a staff-level technical leader for our Data Analytics department. You will be instrumental in heavy statistical analyses to drive improved performance, reliability, and analytical power for our customers looking to understand their own production databases.

The work is very diverse — all the way from developing scoring models, choosing statistical methods, collaborating on business challenges, to optimizing revenue distribution models. You’ll also be responsible for ensuring the technical excellence of your team and owned services, by applying advanced statistical techniques, building predictive models, and translating complex findings into actionable business strategies.

This is a full-time position based out of our Oakland, California.

Technologies You’ll Use

You will be working with technologies like Python, R, Looker, and robust data analytics infrastructure. Your role may also involve understanding and leveraging our data pipelines developed with various databases and using data orchestration tools.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and implement account and lead scoring models using advanced statistical techniques
• Select and apply appropriate statistical methods for various data scenarios
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide data-driven solutions
• Develop revenue distribution and attribution models
• Build, test, and deploy predictive models using Python, R, or similar platforms
• Conduct A/B testing, hypothesis testing, and other experiments
• Stay abreast of the latest developments in statistics and data science
• Translate statistical findings into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders

Skills We’re Looking For

• Expert in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
• Proven experience in data science or as a statistician, ideally within a business environment
• Proficiency in Python, R, or similar statistical software
• Comprehensive knowledge of statistical methods and their business applications
• Ability to convey complex quantitative analyses clearly and precisely

Bonus Skills​

• Proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker)
• Knowledge of data engineering and pipeline development
• Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration and influence on business decisions
