The Principal Research Engineer II serves as a SME in the research and development of directed energy projects in support of critical requirements relative to defense initiatives.
Duties/Responsibilities
• Serves as research engineer in the directed energy labs supporting development of lasers and optics for Space and Missile Defense projects.
• Research into new techniques for high energy lasers and alternatives to prototype and testing of new optics systems.
• Integrates work into a directed energy team to improve capabilities and discover new opportunities in directed energy efforts.
• Ph.D. in Engineering or Physics with 12-15 months of full-time verifiable work experience or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience (minimum of a Bachelor's or Master's degree required).
• Prior research in experience lasers, plasma, modeling, and characterization.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Capable of working within a team to accomplish pulsed laser and optical system development.
