Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Commercial Airlines (BCA), has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Systems Design and Analysis Engineer (Associate, Experienced and Senior) to join our ECS (Environment Control Systems) Engineering team located in Everett, WA.

Position Overview:

Our team is committed to engineering excellence in support of the 787 airplane program. We are a team of highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity.

This individual will support the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design. Supports the development, maintenance, or modification of system, component, and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups. Performs and documents analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Contributes to supplier development, test, and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals. Supports system components' designs/proposals standards to provide installation and detailed documentation. Trains others. Works under general direction.

This position will support one or all of the sub-teams within Environmental Controls Systems (ECS): CACTCS system, Low Pressure Systems and analysis, EE Cooling, Liquid Cooling Systems, and Decompression Analysis.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supports Requirements Traceability & Development Assurance.

  • System Safety Analysis Documentation, including the creation of Fault Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), Fault Tree Analysis (FTAs)

  • Systems Controls Support, including Dynamic Tuning

  • Lab & Flight Test Support

  • Factory and Airplane Delivery Center Support

  • Build Airplane Support Manuals, such as Fault Isolation Manual (FIM) and Component Maintenance Manual (CMM)

  • Interfacing with intra-Boeing engineering teams, such as Flight Deck Crew Operations, Pilots, Electrical Systems, Stress, Structures, Propulsion, and Aerodynamics

  • Integrating with suppliers and customers

  • Develop a project schedule, then maintain deliverable releases on time.

  • Leading, training, and mentoring junior engineers

Work Authorization Statement: 

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Everett, WA.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 1+ years of experience in an engineering discipline.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Technical Knowledge in system controls, mechanical systems, systems modeling, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.

  • Knowledge in airplane development

  • Experience with airplane certification

  • Experience in Decompression Analysis

  • Experience with JIRA, DESE/Cameo, Matlab/Simulink, Scripting code (Matlab, C++, Fortran)

  • Build positive relationships and work well with a diverse team.

  • Strong project management skills to independently execute a variety of projects to completion.

  • Clear communication skills

Typical Education/Experience: 

Associate (Level 2): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
