About the position
At Flora Food Group head offices located in Amsterdam a position has become vacant for a Senior Tax Manager, Europe reporting to the Global Head of Tax. The Senior Tax Manager will manage the Group’s European tax affairs by having overall responsibility and oversight of all European tax matters and Transfer Pricing (Documentation). The position will encompass direct tax planning, research, reporting and tax compliance matters, as well as tax support to the business on operational matters.
More specifically the main tasks and responsibilities include:
- Transfer Pricing related subjects;
- Provide tax support to the European business operations and its commercial transactions and provide tax advice on larger global ongoing projects with a European impact by identifying and evaluating alternatives and recommending solutions.
- Support the legal entity structure governance, including recommendations to improve tax efficiency and operational flexibility.
- Coordinate the Group’s European tax compliance and external reporting requirements. With external service providers and internal finance teams, ensure and manage accurate and timely filing of all relevant tax returns in European jurisdictions;
- Monitoring the Group’s European intercompany relationships and ensuring that at all times these relationships meet the arm’s length principle. Ensure existing transfer pricing documentation is kept up to date, or new documentation is created to support all intercompany relationships;
- Lead interfaces with tax authorities in European countries where the Group operates (with external advisor support where required); including co-ordination of tax audits, negotiation of tax issues, filing of appeals;
- Monitor changes in tax legislation, rulings, and regulations and understand the relevant impact by ultimately recommending and implementing responsive action to existing positions. Communicate impact of tax law/accounting changes on business operations, and lead change efforts to ensure compliance. Effectively manage relationships with outside tax advisors, internal and external auditors, and tax authorities.
So, what does it take to be successful in this role?
The ideal candidate is an ambitious, hands-on and all-round Tax professional with an academic Degree in Tax Law or Economics and at least 10 years of work experience in an international tax advisory firm and preferably in-house experience.
Furthermore, you have/are:
- Excellent knowledge of international tax principles and transfer pricing legislation;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
- Excellent project management and project ownership skills;
- Willingness to proactively identify issues and work to a solution;
- Hands-on personality and flexibility to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial and fast-changing environment;
- Proven track record of working with senior management and internal stakeholders/customers who have competing priorities.
