Please visit our website: <a href="https://www.turnerandtownsend.com">www.turnerandtownsend.com</a></p><h3>Job Description</h3><p>The Senior Estimator acts as a key figure in preparing detailed cost estimates, analysing project documents and evaluating risks. The role holder is responsible for communicating findings and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely project cost management. The Senior Estimator is responsible for the review of estimate data and finalising unit cost pricing. The role holder will collaborate with architects and engineers, supervise early-stage cost estimates, train junior estimators, and establish a reporting cycle for estimate changes. The role holder will coordinate with the project management and engineering functions throughout the estimate development process.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Principal Accountabilities</strong></p><ul><li>Prepare material, labour, and cost estimates, and complete pricing and cost benchmarking validations with the proper level of detail for all design stages.</li><li>Analyse documents, blueprints, and projects to determine which factors may influence project cost or potential setbacks, including detailed take-offs, and estimate costs of all materials, labour, and equipment.</li><li>Provide continuous evaluations of estimates to determine the potential risk, environmental impact, financial reductions, or budget cuts that may negatively impact the completion of the project to ensure it remains on time and within budget.</li><li>Communicate to senior management, contractors, and vendors through presentations and reports recommending labour, equipment, and material cost and risk assessment for projects.</li><li>Obtain accurate and up -to- date pricing information from databases, contractors, and suppliers to utilise in estimates.</li><li>Review and finalise estimate unit cost pricing to reflect current market conditions and specific project logistics.</li><li>Review historic benchmark cost information and highlights variances.</li><li>Liaise with architects and engineers to clearly understand project scope during estimate preparation.</li><li>Supervise the development of conceptual and feasibility cost model estimates utilising historic benchmarking information and industry experience to develop complete early-stage cost estimate forecasting.</li><li>Provide training and development to junior level estimators.</li><li>Proactively establish a routine reporting cycle that clearly communicates when an estimate changes and rationale.</li><li>Prepare and review material take offs from planning documents or engineering drawings.</li><li>Prepare conceptual and comparative cost study estimates from preliminary sketches.</li><li>Prepare detailed breakdown of components and elements of estimates for systems and subsystems.</li><li>Prepare estimates by applying unit rates labour, materials, and equipment.</li><li>Prepare and / or review final Engineer's estimate.</li><li>Review contract documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and equitable cost allowance for scope changes.</li><li>Provide coordination and liaison with project management and project engineering personnel throughout the estimate development.</li><li>Perform additional tasks, activities or other duties as may be required or assigned as part of the role.</li></ul><p><strong>Experience</strong></p><ul><li>10+ years of estimating experience with 5 years of direct support on an active civil, rail / transit, airport, or commercial construction projects.</li><li>Proven successful estimating experience in civil engineering, including undertaking role of an estimator.</li><li>Knowledge of work with various types of contracting methods such as, Design/Bid/Build (DBB), Design Build (DB), Construction Management At Risk (CMAR), Guarantee Maximum Price (GPM) etc.</li><li>Demonstrated proficiency estimating formats, including Uniformit II.</li><li>Proficient with large-scale estimating softwa
