About the role

Overview

The State of Vermont Information Centers Division (VICD) is seeking a highly motivated, self-starting Information Center Regional Supervisor with excellent communication and strong leadership skills to oversee five Vermont Information Centers located in Waterford, Derby Line, Lyndonville, Bradford, and Georgia North.

 

The VICD Supervisor will be responsible for directing and overseeing staff, facilitating daily operations, and ensuring appropriate staffing levels and work assignments at the five locations. This role may also require covering shifts at various sites as needed. Personal accountability is key, including daily site phone calls, weekly site visits, and Teams meetings. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently with a diverse population and possess outstanding customer service skills.

 

In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the VICD Supervisor will handle various administrative duties, including recruiting and supporting new hires during the State onboarding process, overseeing invoices, writing and conducting annual performance evaluations, and training new employees. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel is essential.

 

While the position works a 40-hour week Monday through Friday, the five sites operate 7 days a week, 365 days a year. As a result, the incumbent must be accessible to staff and the VICD manager outside of regular hours and is responsible for pager duty. Timely responses to pager calls and the ability to make sound decisions as needed are critical.

Environmental Factors

Work is usually performed at an assigned facility or facilities. Duties may include the occasional lifting or carrying of up to 40 pounds. Evening and weekend shifts may be required. Some overtime work may be necessary. Incumbents must be able to work out of doors in all weather, and on rough and slippery ground. Field travel is mandatory for which private means of transportation must be available.

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years or more of work experience in tourism, hospitality, recreation, marketing, public relations, or other related field AND one (1) or more years of experience as a supervisor, team lead, or manager.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s degree or higher in relevant field.

Knowledge of and/or experience with Vermont Information Center Division.

Strong communication skills that include the ability to comprehend policy and written documentation.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook e-mail.

Ability to read maps and complete internet searches.

Special Requirements

Valid driver's license.
