About the Role
The Experimentation Platform team at Chime develops a critical tool that empowers Engineers, Product Managers, Data Scientists, Analysts, ML Engineers, and non-technical audiences to design, configure, and analyze experiments. Our mission is to drive innovation, speed and quality by empowering teams to run hypothesis driven, rapid experiments at scale.
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help drive technical architecture, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to enhance experimentation quality and velocity. As a senior member of the team, you will have the opportunity to build scalable platforms, lead a team of engineers, and shape the future of experimentation at Chime. In addition you will play a key role supporting cross-functional teams on experiment design, best practices, and culture.
The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $198,990 and up to $281,900. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
- Design, develop, test, and deploy components of Chime’s internal experimentation platform at scale.
- Solve scale and usability problems in causal inference that are unique to Chime’s business.
- Partner closely with Data Engineering & DSML to introduce new statistical methodologies, enhancing experiment velocity and performance.
- Lead technical direction by mentoring engineers and driving architectural excellence, software development best practices, and engineering quality.
- Lead the team on its transition to leverage GenAI for building in a safe and sustainable manner.
- Deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance infrastructure, ensuring low-latency execution of high-volume experiments.
- Write thoroughly tested, high-quality code and work with the engineering team to ensure robust software releases.
- Follow Agile methodologies and practice Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Participate in an on-call rotation to address platform issues as needed.
To thrive in this role, you have
- 6+ years of software engineering experience.
- Expertise in Go or other backend languages such as Ruby, Java, or Python.
- Hands-on experience with experimentation methodologies such as A/B testing, multivariate testing, and feature flagging.
- A strong background in data science-related fields, including analytics, statistics, and machine learning.
- Expertise in distributed systems, large-scale applications, and Big Data architecture.
- A rigorous approach to testing and experience with test-driven development.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms, Cloud-Native technologies, and NoSQL databases.
- Bonus: Prior experience working in continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) environments.
