Position Function:
The Senior Network Infrastructure Specialist assists in managing all resources and personnel associated with the planning, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and documentation of the campus network, and communications infrastructure. Campus network infrastructure systems include twisted-pair copper data network cable, fiber optic cable, switched edge network, and the wireless Wi-Fi network. Campus communication telephony infrastructure includes both legacy AT&T Centrex and new Voice over IP (VOIP) technologies. Project Management for all significant network/communication infrastructure projects on campus including new building projects, building renovation projects, twisted-pair copper and fiber optic cable plant build out/maintenance, campus wireless buildout and telco communication installation and maintenance. This position assists in the management of all resources associated with troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of campus supported computer electronics including Windows based systems and select printer hardware.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. TDX Ticket Management
a. Reviews, triages, assigns, and manages all Infrastructure Services assigned Service Desk/TDX tickets for all Network/Communication Infrastructure related work.
b. Initiates contact with clients for review of ticket requirements.
c. Updates and documents all service-related correspondence on tickets, ticket closure, tracking repair costs, and creating cost recovery tickets.
d. Creates service tasks from tickets based on due dates and/or ticket requirements.
e. Bills materials, reviews labor, and tracks cost recovery.
f. Creates infrastructure tickets where expenses have been incurred and must be recovered.
2. Project Management
a. Reviews, plans, manages, and allocates resources for significant network/communication infrastructure projects (New building construction, existing building renovations, campus communication infrastructure expansion (fiber, twisted-pair copper, wireless, VOIP)).
b. Reviews construction documents (floorplans) with relation to network/communication infrastructure requirements.
c. Attends meetings with owners, architects and engineers on a regular basis throughout significant projects.
d. Attends on-site meetings with contractors and engineers to review status of project in relation to project infrastructure requirements.
e. Determines and defines appropriate funding model for large projects to initiate and manage project infrastructure expenditures and cost recovery.
f. Participates in the hiring and management of low-voltage independent contractors to install network infrastructure systems.
g. Tracks and documents significant projects within TDX Project Management module including project status, timelines, resource allocation and benchmarks.
3. Procurement
a. Creates, reviews, and approves bill of materials for all significant projects and stock level component purchases.
b. Solicits, reviews and approves vendor quotes for all components required to install and maintain campus network/communication/telco infrastructure.
c. Reviews requisitions for computer electronics repairs for supported Windows based systems and supported campus printers. (Component research, vendor interaction procuring vendor quotes, purchase requisition creation and submittal, requisition tracking, order delivery reconciliation/exchange/returns).
4. Infrastructure Field Work
a. Coordinates maintenance and installation of cat6, fiber, Cisco Wi-Fi network, campus card access/electronic door locks, VOIP phone system, AT&T Centrex phone system, and Cisco switched network. This includes use of all termination and diagnostic test equipment for installation and maintenance of cat6, fiber, and campus telco system (fiber optic fusion splicer, fiber optic OTDR, fiber light source/power meter, fiber optic visual scope for end faces, telco phone butt sets and tone generators, fiber optic in ground locate equipment, multimeter voltage test sets, Wi-Fi survey and analysis testers/software).
