Our Edge Platform team takes ownership for planning, building, maintaining and operating our global platform. We design, develop and deploy critical technologies including the hardware, software and network infrastructure that provide the technical underpinnings for all of Akamai's products. Our team ensures consistent availability and performance for our customers.

Develop secure, reliable and maintainable code

As a Software Engineer II, you'll develop software that runs one of the largest distributed systems in the world. You will ensure our next generation of Media products meets the needs of millions of users worldwide. You will also work with our internal teams to design, shape and create innovative solutions, with the aim of providing a seamless internet experience.

As a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

• Enhancing features and functionality, including design, testing and enablement
• Being the subject matter and team expert, leading product evolution in the subject areas
• Working with internal teams to troubleshoot complex problems in our network for our customers

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 2+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, another related field or its equivalent
• Have experience of software development life cycles and writing code in C/C++ within a Unix/Linux environment
• Understand or wish to understand how the internet and its networks and protocols work
• Be a good team player, enjoy collaborating with others yet able to work individually
• Demonstrate a keen interest in becoming familiar with the unfamiliar
• Have a good aptitude for puzzle-solving through commitment to both detailed work and to abstraction
