Sr. Database Developer

Planet Technologies, the Nation’s leading Microsoft services provider to the public sector, is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our growing team as a Sr. Database Developer. In this role, you will be supporting impactful project that make a difference for our country.

Responsibilities

• This role is a mix of DB Developer and DBA. Must be flexible and able to complete both aspects, i.e. DB Developer/DBA.
• Responsible for the design, programming, construction, and implementation of new databases, as well as modifying existing databases for platform updates and changes in user needs - we use SQL and Postgres.
• Point-In-Time restore backups are stored for last 7 days.
• Weekly backups are retained for 5 weeks.
• Monthly backups are retained for every 12 months.
• Yearly backup of 25th week of each year for 10 years.
• There is a differential backup taken every 12 hours
• Once the period of retention expires the older backups are no longer available.
• DR is in a constant read only mode in West unless East goes down, then it flips to Read/Write - same policies
• Control DBs by monitoring and approving DB changes or new development
• Monitoring and automating indexes to keep DB high performance
• Understands Azure or AWS managed SQL Servers
• Works closely with Azure Engineer
