The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the performance, functionality, and daily operations for all mechanical systems located within the facilities and on the grounds at Beta Technologies. The technician remains educated and adheres to company safety policies, manages routine procedures, emergency repairs, and works closely with our team members to complete installation on all new mechanical equipment.  

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Travels to and from locations performing preventative maintenance schedules, routine inspections, and cleaning tasks on and around all equipment and supporting structures.
  • Possesses the ability to read blueprints, diagnose repairs, order replacement parts, understand complex instruction manuals, and demonstrate knowledge for all associated chemicals, specialty tools, hardware, or electrical work needed for optimal performance on equipment.
  • Utilizes a central software system to record complete checklists and associated maintenance logs.
  • Works closely with the Equipment Maintenance Lead and Facilities Lead to organize and schedule work request assignments according to priority and severity.
  • Works independently and efficiently to stay up to date with all assigned work requests.
  • Supports in-house or contracted services for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, security, fire, safety, H.V.A.C, and refrigeration systems by supervising, assisting, or escorting contractors.
  • Supports team members, contractors, and designers with new equipment installation. [PC1] 
  • Consults with equipment maintenance manuals, the Equipment Maintenance Lead, and the Safety Coordinator to gain a thorough understanding of all pertinent safety precautions, including individual machine Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures before conducting work.
  • Purchases and logs receipts for facility equipment, materials, tools, and travel expenses.
  • Facilitates communication among team members for all equipment work that may directly affect the team's ability to perform tasks. Must be able to offer solutions to help navigate around emergency situations or routine schedules.
  • Operates power tools, utility vehicles, and company vehicles that may require certification or special licensing.
  • Complies and adheres to Beta, OSHA, TSA, and SIDA regulations and policies.  Identifies, informs, and reports all safety or SIDA hazards.
  • Participates in BETA’s mission by attending facilities meetings, joining stand-up, checking the facilities/ momentum channel and communicating with all team members in Slack or other software programs related to this position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have 3 years of experience working on mechanical systems, preventative maintenance, equipment installation, or machine assembly.
  • Must promote a solid understanding and have experience reading blueprints and schematics. 
  • General computer skills, customer service, time management, and communication skills are required. Must be able to check in with team members and team lead daily. 
  • Manage multiple schedules and effectively finish all tasks within a designated deadline.
  • Strong problem-solving skills along with the ability to self-motivate and work independently. 
  • Quick decision-making and flexibility based on safety and company deadlines will be required regularly.
  • Must be able to understand and operate heavy equipment and hand tools. Knowledge for preventive maintenance, plumbing, electrical, hydraulics, and welding is necessary to be successful.  
  • Must be able to provide the proper credentials for securing a S.I.D.A badge and be able to regularly attend scheduled training for aviation awareness and education.  
  • Must be able to assist with team deliveries utilizing a Beta vehicle.
  • Must be able to keep a clean driving record to hold this position.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70lbs. daily with no physical restrictions that would impede operating heavy equipment or limit the ability to complete any tasks associated with this position.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Facility team members work in a wide range of environments both in and outdoors including areas of high voltage, strong magnetic forces, spinning motors, climate fluctuations with various weather conditions, noise and temperature extremes, and loud aircraft.
