As an HR Manager you will be responsible for carrying out the daily HR activities including recruitment, total compensation, and training and development, employee relations and more. You will partner with the General Manager to offer support and guidance to help our associates thrive at work. As a member of the property leadership team, you will help put strategies in place for communication, associate engagement, and overall HR practices with our evolving business needs.

The Fenway hotel, located in the historic coastal town of Dunedin, merges the charm of its jazz age roots with modern sophistication, creating a rich, culinary-centric atmosphere.

What you will do:

  • Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, hearing and resolving employee grievances, counseling employees and supervisors, conducting exit interviews.
  • Ensure associates are cross trained to support successful daily operations.
  • Lead and facilitate new hire orientation, to generate a positive first impression for employees and emphasize the importance of guest service in company culture. Ensure attendance by all new hires and participation of the leadership team.
  • Lead and facilitate Service Excellence training for the properties and possibly regional properties.
  • Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments, and roll out best practices.
  • Oversee performance management process to improve individual and ensures team performance is in line with organizational objectives.
  • Maintain effective associate communication channels in the property (e.g., develops daily communications and assists with regularly scheduled property-wide meetings).
  • Utilize an “open door” policy to acknowledge employee problems or concerns in a timely manner and ensure associate issues are thoroughly addressed per company guidelines.
  • Support management by providing human resources advice.
  • Partner with Loss Prevention to conduct employee accident investigations, as necessary.
  • Communicate performance expectations in accordance with job descriptions for each position.
  • Handle workplace investigations, disciplinary, and termination procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with procedure for accessing, reviewing, and auditing employee files and ensure compliance with the Privacy Act.
  • Facilitate reasonable belief and post-accident drug testing process.
  • Assist with ensuring all safety and security policies (e.g. property removal, lost and found items, blood borne pathogens, accident reporting, and hygiene) are communicated to employees on a regular basis through orientation, property meetings, bulletin boards, etc.
  • Assist with managing Workers Compensation claims to ensure appropriate employee care and manage costs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 5+ years of human resource management experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Hospitality or hotel HR experience required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired. 
  • Workday experience a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in hotel/resort,  restaurant or similar is a MUST

  • 3-5 years experience in human resources, interviewing, hiring, and training new employees; and resolving workplace issues

  • No supervisory experience required

  • Required Travel 10% to headquarters as needed
