ACCIONA, in its water business, is looking for a Project Director for its new project in Doheny, California.
Job Description
The Project Director is responsible for the delivery of the Project through design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases. He or she is the primary point of client contact with a focus on developing a sound relationship and meeting client expectations with the ultimate responsibility for the completion of construction project within budget and with the timeframe agreed.

Responsibilities
- Project Management Functions:
- Undertaking core Project Management functions to co-ordinate, control and report on the delivery phase. This includes:
- Coordinate regular project meetings to ensure a common understanding of the project design, issues priorities and schedule requirements internally
- Attend regular project meetings to ensure a common understanding of the project design, issues, priorities and schedule requirements between multiple stakeholders, including the client, consultants and suppliers.
- Manage project communication including the proper use of project correspondence and design control documentation.
- Maintain a comprehensive and well-organized set of project files.
- Monitor, ensure adherence to project schedule, including through the use of innovative delivery models.
- Managing project budgets with the assistance of the Project Accountant.
- Administration of the Project’s Contract, meeting obligations, correspondence, notices, deliverables, invoicing, variations, others as required.
- Overall responsibility for the management of Safety, the environment and Quality.
- Weekly and Monthly project reporting at various levels.
- Liaising with ACCIONA head office to access knowledge, obtain approvals as required and to keep them informed on progress.
Project Delivery Functions:
- A key role for the Project Manager is to ensure coordination of the project’s design, construction and commissioning activities. This includes:
- Ensuring the design considers safety, durability, environmental, contractual and other requirements.
- Coordinating the detailed design and specification process interfaces with the procurement, construction and commissioning teams.
- Ensuring that subcontracts and purchase orders are raised for outsourced work and equipment procurement, and that the correct approval processes are followed.
- Ensuring that construction and commissioning activities are undertaken safely and efficiently.
- Timely delivery of the project outcomes to the client in terms of key milestones, drawings & documentation as required by the contract.
Stakeholder Liaison Functions:
- The project manager is responsible for providing an interface with the Client, and all other stakeholders, coordinating the reporting, review and change processes for all aspects of the delivery. This includes:
- Managing adherence to the Project Management Plans.
- Attending Interface meetings, reviews, audits and other meetings as required.
- Coordinate provision of inputs to weekly and monthly reports.
- Monitor feedback from various stakeholders and ensure these are addressed to satisfy contractual obligations and maintain relationships.
- Monitor, develop and implement strategies to enhance relationships with other stakeholders.
- Establish through a consultative process overall project delivery strategy, including scheduling, packaging of work and processes.
- Ensuring contract change processes are adhered to.
