Embedded Software Engineer
Alarm.com is looking for a highly motivated self-starter to work in a fast-paced product development environment on our Building36 team! Building36 is a subsidiary of Alarm.com that focuses on home automation solutions in the energy and water areas. The successful candidate will work within this team to design, prototype, and develop state-of-the-art products and features to support our partners and integrate with industry-leading manufacturers.
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work across a variety of technical areas. Typical projects will involve diverse technologies and skills. Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to self-learn are must-have attributes. Candidate must be able to communicate well within a team environment and work independently on self-directed tasks. Motivated and creative problem solvers will have opportunities to influence future projects.
In this role, you will
- Develop full stack and embedded software on IoT devices
- Engage in the research, evaluation, and application of new technologies and methodologies to solve challenging project goals.
- Take part in the entire project lifecycle, from requirements development to deployment.
- Work with cross functional teams to develop highly reliable software that runs at scale.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, related field coupled with 0+ year experience or equivalent work experience.
- Software engineering experience gained from work experience, academic projects, internship experience or independent hacking projects.
- Strong programming skills; C++, C#, Java, and/or object-oriented programming.
- Embedded Linux experience a plus
- Knowledge of networking concepts, principles, and technologies.
- Self-starter, analytical, tenacious problem solver
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Rigorous attention to detail and focus on quality of deliverables
- Proven team experience and comfort in a team-oriented environment
- Passion for working with technology and excitement for creating high quality consumer technology product
