Janitor/Groundskeeper - Chicago, IL

Job Summary: The Janitor is responsible for performing a variety of light maintenance and cleaning tasks to ensure the buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner. Additionally, this position keeps assigned areas clean and in orderly condition and performs detailed cleaning to buildings and restrooms.

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Empty trash, service, clean, and supply all restrooms.

· Collect trash from each floor and empty trash cans into the dumpster daily.

· Maintain an inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies and communicate when additional supplies are needed.

· Clean all common areas in the building and around property sidewalk on a daily basis.

· Sweep, mop, scrub, sanitize, strip, wax, and buff the floors.

· Clean windows, glass, and mirrors.

· Clean and ensure vacancies are move-in ready for new residents.

· Follow safety rules and use safety precautions when cleaning such as wet floor signs.

· Updates Property Management daily on status on building interior and exterior deficiency.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· Ability to handle heavy cleaning equipment, machinery and furniture.

· Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and other hazardous materials

· Excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills with strong listening skills.

· Excellent organizational and time management skills.

· Excellent communication skills to accurately what is needed to other employees.

Education & Experience:

· High School Diploma or GED required.

· Minimum 1 year experience working in a related position.

· Must have experience working with cleaning equipment and other hand tools.

· Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to travel between work locations.

Physical Demands:

· Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

· Stamina and endurance for prolonged periods of physical labor, including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and reaching.

· Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for using cleaning tools.

· Ability to work in various weather conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, and humidity.

· Drive personal vehicle between worksites as needed or travel out of state as needed.
