Hours: M-Th from 4pm - 3:30am
Job Summary Responsible for the support and administration of employee safety programs directed by the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager. Establish, promote, and maintain safe working programs and practices. This position will identify, recommend, and implement measures to reduce industrial health and safety accident hazards. This person will carry out assigned tasks that maintain compliance with safety regulatory statutes and safe workplace obligations of the company. Job Responsibilities- Under the direction of the Safety Manager, work with the site Safety Team, Operations Managers, and Maintenance to ensure the effective application of established safety practices, utilization of safety equipment and devices, and elimination of hazardous conditions and unsafe practices.
- Participate in the development and implementation of department specific safety goals and procedures as required by regulatory requirements.
- Conduct safety walk-throughs throughout the worksite, engaging the workforce and leadership group to identify safety issues and develop solutions.
- Review and update policies and training programs as directed by the Environmental Health and Safety Manager.
- Conduct Job Safety Analysis.
- Develop and coach effective accident investigations through the thorough review of Incident Investigations. The review shall include follow-up activities with Production Managers to ensure reports are properly completed and that potential corrective measures are thoroughly reviewed and implemented when/where appropriate.
- Review and update policies and training programs.
- Conducts monthly regulatory training, forklift training, scissor lift training and other related safety courses.
- Completes safety assessments and observations.
- Participate with / help lead Safety Ambassador activities.
- Actively supports and synthesizes Nortek’s Core Beliefs: Live Safe, One Team, Own It, Ignite Change, Legacy Now.
- Other Ad hoc duties as assigned by manager
- Supports “Lean Business Enterprise” initiatives for continuous process improvement and waste elimination.
- Two years’ professional experience in Environmental Health and Safety
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification by a recognized training and certification provider. If not currently certified, willing and able to become certified within 4 weeks on the job.
