The Royal Caribbean Group’s Data Analytics and AI team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Manager, Data Solutions Engineering reporting to the Senior Director, Data Product Engineering.

This position will work on-site in Miramar, Florida.

 

Position Summary:

 

The Senior Manager, Data Solutions Engineering is a technical manager who is responsible for leading the data engineering functions by delivering enterprise curated data solutions that enables our enterprise-wide Data and AI platform to drive business value and customer success.  S/He will lead the development of very large and complex data initiatives on premises as well cloud environments directly impacting the design, architecture, and implementation of RCG data products for Revenue Products. This role will be responsible for coordinating with stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate deliverables and leadership for the development of technical standards. S/he will be responsible for growing and mentoring team members and align with strategic direction for the data engineering goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1. Leads, motivates, coaches, empowers a team or multiple teams in the design, build and delivery of enterprise class data products that are reusable and non-perishable using industry and RCG best practices and standards
2. Leads multi-functional large-scale projects through close collaboration with multiple engineering, technical program management, analytics teams, and product managers on security, tools, architecture, planning, and delivery of multiple concurrent projects
3. Establishes and ensures best practices for the software development lifecycle including solution architecture, build, and test
4. Establishes operational and technical strategies for Data Engineering including the development of standards, roadmaps, and delivery.
5. Develops and leverages collaborative relationships within and across the organization to build solutions that will enable data analysis, exploration capabilities to add business value to RCG achieve results.
6. Provides technical leadership in building foundational systems designed and developed for the enterprise
7. Develops project and funding proposals for programs that provide continuous delivery of cost-effective data solutions that meet business requirements
8. Develops and track staffing plans and ensures the team is adequately staffed with skilled professionals.
9. Leads recruitment efforts to attract, retain high quality and diverse talent
10. Encourages and inspires others to imagine better approaches, create solutions, embrace change, and facilitate change to achieve business outcomes.
11. Drives the maturity and adoption of our current analytics capabilities by progressing from traditional BI to true Analytics to take advantage of the emerging technologies around Descriptive and Predictive Analytics.
12. Anticipates and analyzes trends in technology while assessing the emerging technologies impacts
13. Works with product and enterprise teams via both Agile and Waterfall Methodologies

Financial Responsibilities:

 

• Manage labor and non-labor budgets of $1M USD or more
• Develop business case and cost/benefit analysis for capital requests, support operations spending and data engineering initiatives.
• Responsible for defining optimization opportunities to manage expenses

 

Qualifications:

 

• 10 + years working with Data Engineering, Software Implementation, Enhanced Reporting Analytics and/or related experience in Data Analysis and/or data management solutions
