Maintenance Technician

Bormann Metals, powered by UPG, is a leading steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel distributor in Southern California and Arizona. Since 1919, Borrmann Metals has been an industry leader in providing the best customer service and competitive pricing in the metals market. Borrmann Metals Center is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our Burbank, CA location. The Maintenance Technician will service all company equipment and machines, including shears, burners, saws, forklifts and side loaders, office equipment and minor electrical.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Make repairs to buildings, perform basic carpentry and painting operations, build partitions, benches, repair furniture, etc.
• Tear down machines, equipment or check piping, valves, or electrical equipment to determine extent of trouble and make minor repairs.  Obtain approval on major troubles and make repairs following approval.
• Perform machine operations to make minor replacement parts, replace worn or broken parts and reassemble, fitting parts, scraping, and reaming bearings and adjusting machines to provide proper operation.
• Maintain and install electrical lines and equipment in connection with plant rearrangement or new equipment.
• Make repairs or replacements in air, steam, oil or gas lines and controls.
• Carry out preventive maintenance per prescribed schedules.
• Perform basic fork truck tune-ups and repairs.

Position Requirements

• Strong ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and piping charts.
• Good mathematical and computer skills
• Knowledge of company polices and safety rules.
• Knowledge of labor cards, routing and move tickets.
• Basic arc (SMAW) welding skills.
• Understanding of press operation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Required travel to Riverside location at least once per week or as needed
• Welding certificate required
