Job Description:

The University of Florida's Harn Museum of Art is seeking an experienced Multimedia Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a Multimedia Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in creating visually compelling digital content that enhances the museum's visitor experience and online presence.

Key Responsibilities:

Production & Content Creation:

  • Photograph and prepare high-quality images of 2D and 3D artworks from the museum's collection, ensuring accessibility through digital platforms.
  • Coordinate and execute photography and videography for programs, exhibitions, events, merchandise, etc.

Digital Asset & Content Management:

  • Implement metadata standards and taxonomy to improve content accessibility and searchability.
  • Maintain accurate copyright information and metadata for images and videos in Digital Asset Management System (DAMS).
  • Research and recommend new equipment, software, and video techniques to enhance visual communication.
  • Manage inventory, calibration, and maintenance of photography equipment and supplies.


Multimedia Development & Leadership:

  • Lead multimedia production projects from concept development to final execution, ensuring alignment with museum objectives.
  • Collaborate with museum departments to assess multimedia needs and propose creative solutions for visitor engagement, employee onboarding, and staff training.
  • Manage production timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for timely and cost-effective content delivery.
  • Supervise and mentor photography interns, providing guidance on technical skills and project workflow.
Expected Salary:

$46,000-$50,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.Ā 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe suite of products.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of digital photography, professional lighting equipment and techniques, and best post-production practices.
  • Thorough understanding of color matching and color calibration.
  • Experience with digital asset management software (DAMS)
  • Previous experience working in a museum or gallery
  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks simultaneously at a high level of performance, accuracy and speed.
  • Self-directed, organized, ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms.
  • Familiarity with best practices relevant to photography involving intellectual property and copyright, and privacy concerns
