About the role
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Engineer will provide support and execution of quality, continuous improvement, and support organizational activities with an effort to improve the quality management system, while also improving efficiency and compliancy of manufactured components. A Quality Team member who embraces change and focuses on continuous organizational improvements that further enhance the customer experience with NCC’s products and services.
Health and Safety:
- Follow all Company Safety Policies and Procedures, as well as the safety requirements of our customers where applicable. Immediate reporting of any safety violations or concerns.
- Ensure all applicable regulatory standards are met with regards to loss prevention, accident investigation, OSHA compliance.
- Works with team members to actively improve safety of the plant.
- Ensures that work area is clean, organized, and free of dangerous or hazardous material.
- Ensure safety action items are completed accurately and timely.
Quality:
- Follow SOPs and ensure all products are manufactured to specifications.
- Work directly across departments to develop quality processes and work instructions.
- Complete non-conformance corrective actions reports and root cause analysis working with team members to identify root cause to failures and implementation of corrective actions. Provide feedback to Business Unit Leaders, Customers, and Suppliers as required.
- Ensures the team is working in accordance with product specification to ensure minimization of defects. Audit processes and product quality to ensure adherence.
- Responsible for managing data and logs to capture non-conformance information to drive analysis, problem solving, and corrective actions for failures.
Productivity:
- Work with sales, project management, and operations personnel to improve the Quality Management System through the execution of process and procedures.
- Execute the development of standard operating procedures, work instructions and documents as required to drive organizational improvements.
- Understand and utilize the tools of the Quality Management System.
- Investigate and determine root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for non-conformances and quality issues where they apply.
- Responsible for leading and maintaining RMA and MRB processes.
- Audit the execution of processes and procedures established throughout the organization.
- Perform Internal Audits of the Quality Management System to ensure adherence to processes.
- Perform Supplier Audits in coordination with the Supply Chain team.
- Audit control of documentation to ensure the organization complies with quality processes.
- Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives throughout the organization as it applies to the Quality Management System and coordinate projects with the ABM Champion.
- Assist in the development of training programs for employees.
- Aid in final product validation through in conjunction with project management, engineering, and operations. Document validations and maintain within the Quality Management System.
- Perform First Article Inspections of newly sourced products and materials to ensure they meet criteria for their intended use.
- Perform the Incoming Inspection of material in coordination with Logistics and Engineering.
- Communicate new standards and processes to the organization.
- Improve inter-departmental communications to drive a quality culture.
- Travel to customers and suppliers as required.
Continuous Improvement:
- Support ABM Champion in leading in ABM initiatives and activities. (5S events, Kaizen events, weekly CIP meetings, problem solving, improvement projects, etc.)
- Work with team members to provide input to improve process and workspaces.
- Provide feedback to your supervisor for process improvement ideas.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality and/or continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and understand drawings and models.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Certification is mandatory.
- Experience with Electro-Mechanical assemblies is considered a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ERP Systems.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication, including presentation skills.
- Ability to work flexibly when required and demonstrate a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
