Pay Range: $54,122-$91,437 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: JCCC Nursing program is seeking a full-time assistant professor to teach both didactic and clinical components of the program. This professor will be part of a team-teaching approach. Clinical duties include one day per week in the clinical setting. This is a 9-month contract position with a start date of August 2025.
The duties of the nursing professor are many and varied. In addition to classroom teaching, they supervise and advise students in the live and simulated clinical settings. Nursing professors are expected to do the following:
1. Demonstrates* and teaches patient care in the classroom, as well as live or simulated clinical units to nursing students and instructs students in principles and application of physical, biological, and psychological subjects related to nursing.
2. Supervises* student nurses and demonstrates patient care in clinical units of hospital or the simulated setting.
3. Evaluates student progress and maintains records of student’s clinical experience.
4. Cooperates with medical and nursing personnel in evaluating and improving teaching and nursing practices.
5. May specialize in specific subject, such as in a type of nursing activity, such as nursing of medical or surgical patients, or of a specialty area, such as maternal-child, pediatrics, or mental health.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in nursing-MSN (or be within one year of completion with a program degree plan) with a focus in nursing education, nursing practice, or administration/leadership.
- Must be licensed as a registered nurse in Kansas and Missouri (multi-state/compact license also acceptable--must seek endorsement in Kansas as needed.)
- Three years minimum of experience as an RN.
- Work requires occasional heavy lifting and use of specialized medical equipment.
- Knowledge of principles and methods of adult education.
- Computer proficiency preferred in PC and Mac-based software applications: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and web design.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and willing to learn new skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and reliably meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to carry out responsibilities in a timely and meticulous manner demonstrating initiative and creativity.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with healthcare professionals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding job assignments and sensitive issues.
- Ability to assess situations and adapt to highly dynamic environment.
- Current RN licensing endorsement for Kansas and Missouri (or multi-state.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current and/or prior clinical, lab, simulation, and/or classroom teaching in a pre-licensure nursing program preferred.
- Ability to relate current evidence-based practice to academia.
*To safely supervise and demonstrate patient care with students in clinical areas, faculty must be "fully fit for duty". Expectations from the clinical facilities may be include, but are not limited to the following physical and working environment demands: noise, temperature changes, hazards, balancing, carrying, climbing, crouching, eye/hand/foot coordination, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting**, mobility**, pulling**, pushing**, reaching, repetitive motions, running, sitting, standing, stooping, talking, and walking.
**The nursing faculty member must have the ability to push and pull 25 pounds, support 25 pounds of weight, lift 25 pounds, move heavy objects weighing from 11 to 50 pounds, and carry up to 25 pounds frequently, but any of these limits may occasionally be exceeded. The faculty member should have sufficient motor functions to be able to execute movements required to demonstrate, provide, and supervise general care and treatment to patients in all healthcare settings.
