Job Summary:
The Field Service Supervisor drives a consistent and efficient collaboration of the Service Admin team and technician staff to effectively execute services in a safe and effective fashion while developing and supporting your individual team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily including the following.
- Perform mechanical and electrical testing, diagnostics and troubleshooting with ability to independently repair units; perform startups; provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of industrial power generation equipment.
- Operate a company service vehicle and perform routine inspections on assigned equipment/vehicles.
- Complete reports, required customer paperwork, accept assignments, communicate internally and externally via computer-based systems.
- Practice and comply with all company safety procedures, including but not limited to: Lock Out Tag Out, Arc Flash, PPE, and uniform requirements, and assist in holding the team accountable to all safety standards…drive the safety culture.
- Lead, manage, develop, support, retain, and hold accountable a high-functioning team of Service Technicians to ensure an elite customer experience.
- Collaborate with Service Specialists in dispatch planning to insure most effective and efficient use of time, equipment, and resources.
- Continuously sets the example for others to follow as it relates to safety, technical skills, training, communications, company policy and professional appearance and attitude.
- Responsible for quality control through random job audits as well as monitoring and reviewing jobs with call backs.
- Assist with training and development plans for Field Service Technicians, including but not limited to tracking progress against the Technician Qualifications Book, driving execution of the Technician Playbook, and monthly safety training.
- In partnership with the HR team, provide corrective coaching and discipline to Service Technicians as necessary.
- Provide inter-departmental support to parts, service, and sales on technical and scheduling questions.
- Partner with the Service Manager on hiring and on boarding of new technicians.
- Functional support for new contracts, start-ups, etc.
- Liaison for Service Technicians and Management, including leading routine team meetings, communicating best practices, department, and technician goals as well as rolling out policy and procedure changes in a cohesive and positive manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience/Education/Skills:
- 7+ years’ experience proven Generator Technician experience.
- 1+ years previous supervisory responsibilities a plus.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education, or equivalent experience required.
- Strong customer services focus.
- Must be a highly organized, accountable, self-starer, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong reasoning, problem-solving, analytical, and mathematic skills
- Valid Driver’s License, plus generator technician certifications and/or electrical contractor
