Position Overview
The EIT will complete a wide variety of engineering assignments by applying standard engineering techniques and analyses. The Engineer at this level is in a developmental mode, being trained under close supervision in the utilization of engineering theories and practices and gaining exposure to Company procedures. Assignment may be to a structured rotational program which would include experience in several Engineering disciplines. Some assignments involve CAD (computer aided design) applications.
This job can be based in any of our Texas offices and is eligible (upon approval from management) for any of our flexible work arrangements.
Specific Responsibilities
- Perform various engineering and design assignments requiring the application of basic principles and fundamental theories studied in a four-year university engineering program, and available data in the engineering field.
- Prepare or assist in preparing fundamental engineering computations, quantity takeoffs, estimates, and designs.
- Assist in the preparation and issuance of specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
- Provide input to CAD Designers/Drafters working on the same project .
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Preferred Experience and Education
- 4-year degree in Civil Engineering (or related field); Master’s degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
- 0-5 years of related work experience, preferably in TxDOT traditional delivery projects (Schematic/Env and/or PS&E).
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) registration in Texas is preferred.
- Solid foundational knowledge of basic software such as MicroStation OpenRoads SS 10, ORD, ProjectWise, and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
