The Capital Blue Cross Registered Dietitian is seen as a trusted nutrition expert and advisor for Capital BlueCross, Capital BlueCross members, and the community. The role of the Registered Dietitian is to provide nutrition expertise to Capital BlueCross, its members, and the community. The Registered Dietitian may also assist other Clinical Management Departments by providing outreach calls, assessments, health exhibits, health presentations, and project work as necessary.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Conduct Take Charge Diabetes and Nutrition Information program.
- Provide support to Accountable Care Unit for members as well as recommendations in Care Rounds.
- Perform one-on-one intrinsic nutrition assessments to Capital BlueCross employees.
- Conduct Organization Nutrition Culture Assessments for Capital BlueCross groups.
- Provide one-on-one intrinsic nutrition assessments at the Capital BlueCross retail center. Facilitate nutrition presentations, seminars, lunch-and-learns, food demonstrations and exhibits.
- Speak to the media on behalf of Capital BlueCross for information on nutrition.
- Act as the nutrition expert on Capital BlueCross’ wellness committee and implement appropriate nutrition initiatives.
- Provide group customers needed nutrition information
- Implement projects needed by the department and Capital BlueCross associated with nutrition.
Skills:
- Ability to effectively speak in public and to the media
- Bilingual-Spanish a plus
- Ability to effectively multi-task under pressure, meet deadlines and deliver high quality work
- General relevant computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, ACCESS, PowerPoint, and Project.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of intrinsic coaching and/or behavior modification techniques and interventions designed to facilitate lifestyle behavior changes
- Knowledge of current trends and issues regarding worksite health management, health risk behaviors, health care costs and consumer issues.
Experience:
- Experience working with worksite wellness
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in nutrition coaching, counseling, and nutrition education
- Experience with community nutrition
- A minimum of 3 years' clinical nutrition experience
Education and Certifications:
- Must be a Registered Dietitian and possess an active Pennsylvania LDN License
- Prefer a master’s degree in food and nutrition or health related field, health education, community health, or public health.
- You may be responsible for the care, supervision, guidance, or control of children or otherwise have routine interaction with children. Therefore, in accordance with Pennsylvania’s Child Protective Services Law, you must undergo and obtain clearances through comprehensive and regularly updated criminal and child abuse background checks. Capital BlueCross will assist you in obtaining these clearances.
Work Environment:
- Semi-sedentary work involving periods of sitting, standing, talking, hearing, keying and performing repetitive motions.
- Work requires visual acuity to perform close inspection of written and computer-generated documents as well as a PC monitor. Working environment includes typical office and classroom conditions.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle and feel, and talk, hear, and see.
- The employee must be able to work over 40 hours per week.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 pounds.
