Success as an Annual Fund Officer hinges on strong relationship-building and donor cultivation, where personalized outreach and effective stewardship are key. A data-driven strategy, including donor segmentation and tracking analytics, allows for targeted, optimized campaigns. Excellent communication skills, particularly in storytelling and tailoring messages to diverse audiences, are critical for inspiring support. Collaboration with internal teams and leadership is essential to creating a cohesive donor engagement approach. Additionally, setting measurable goals and maintaining consistency in outreach efforts ensures sustained donor engagement. Adaptability, including staying updated on trends and learning new tools, further enhances an officer’s ability to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
The Annual Fund Officer will have shared direction between the Executive Director of Leadership Annual Giving and the Director of Volunteer Giving Initiatives. This team member will execute all mass marketing needs for Leadership Annual Giving with primary focus on the volunteer solicitor program efforts. Mass appeals can include solicitations, stewardship sent via email, email, text and ThankView. Responsibilities include drafting messaging, data development, audience loading and data analysis for all mass appeals. In essence, serve as a project manager and liaison with the Communications, Marketing and Participation team.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and up to 2 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.
Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and wellbeing.
We are seeking a very detail oriented, highly motivated, strategic thinking, individual with the ability to multi-task. Experience with annual fund campaigns or short-cycle campaign fundraising required. Knowledge of the principles and practices which underlie marketing will be very helpful. Ability to effectively represent the University and to work effectively in a team environment with a mix of alumni and colleagues. Ability to use database systems to manage work is essential. Excels with computer software applications, databases, networked information systems, and technology. A comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Excel and database management are essential.
