Your work environment at EXP

EXP’s Infrastructure & Transportation Practice provides comprehensive planning, design and construction engineering services for all types of roadway, bridge, water resource, rail, transit and aviation projects. With a unique multidisciplinary team approach, we have a history of successfully delivering some of the most complex infrastructure projects within the Midwest region.  We are currently looking to establish and grow a transportation and infrastructure team in the St. Louis region and are seeking a Principal Engineer for our St. Louis office. The ideal candidate will work directly under the supervision of the Practice Manager and focus on delivering transportation projects for a wide variety of clients within Missouri and southern Illinois.

 

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Work with the Practice Manager to help establish, grow and mentor a team of technical experts to execute a wide variety of infrastructure and transportation projects in the St. Louis and southern Illinois region.
• Act as Project Manager or QA/QC Engineer for projects that fit your skill sets.
• Coordinate staff required for internal project teams, including directing, coordinating and reviewing work by others.
• Perform project management duties such as oversee and approve invoicing/billing and manage project scope and secure change orders as necessary, chase A/R and provide internal reporting as may be required.
• Work with staff within Infrastructure & Transportation and other practices groups, as necessary, to execute project delivery.
• Assist in the preparation of proposals and presentations for project pursuits.
• Help recruit other qualified staff as required.
• Identify and develop client relationships in Missouri (St Louis region) and southern IL.

 

What your experience looks like

• BS in Civil Engineering from an Accredited University, advanced degrees are not required, but preferred.
• 20+ years of progressively responsible relevant experience.
• Licensed PE in IL required and MO desired.  Ability to obtain licensure in multiple states desired.
• Demonstrated ability to perform QA/QC and constructability reviews.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong leadership, project management skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to mentor engineering staff.
• Ability to work in an office environment as well as remotely and coordinate with staff from a diverse office geography.
• Ability to develop client relationships and assist in business development and proposal development.
• Represent EXP in relevant local professional organizations.
