World Relief Summer Internship

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization that is fighting for change that lasts, right here in the U.S. and across the globe. We bring sustainable solutions to the world’s greatest problems – disasters, extreme poverty, violence, oppression, and mass displacement. The organization is approximately 75 years old and has worked in over 100 countries around the world since its founding.  In the United States, we come alongside local churches, community organizations and hundreds of individual volunteers to support newly arriving refugee and other immigrant families. Today, we are proud to partner with over 6,000 local churches, and 95,000 volunteers globally to bring hope, healing and transformation to the most vulnerable.

World Relief Memphis is looking for Summer Interns to join our team and work alongside staff in resettlement services, English classes, and church and community engagement. The internship offers 32 hours in directly supervised program roles and 8 hours of professional development and discipleship each week.
Compensation: $15 DOE

Role & Responsibilities

• Responsibilities will differ based on program placement.
• Placements could include welcoming incoming new immigrant families, assisting with various appointments, supporting job readiness, teaching health literacy and navigating the health network in Memphis, working with volunteer teams, assisting in our Language Center, and other opportunities throughout the course of the summer.
• All opportunities will be discussed during the interview and onboarding process.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• A self-starter with strong initiative,
• Follow-through  organizational skills;
• Must be able to prioritize, multi-task, and be attentive to details 
• Cross-cultural experiences preferred 
• Fluent in English, ability to speak other languages preferred

Requirements

• Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
• Christian faith and desire to grow in Christian discipleship.
• Familiarity and ease of use in basic computer programs (Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point, databases) 
• Must have completed freshman year at a college/university or be out of high school for a year or more 
• Driver’s license and access to a vehicle required 
• Periodic evening and weekend availability required US work authorization required/no visas supplied
