About the role

Overview

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for oversight of the accounting team, manages day-to-day accounting processes and activities, month end close completion, the financial operations including general ledger entry, overseeing balance sheet reconciliation, monitoring cash functions, and yearly taxes, 571L filings.

 

This is a full time, exempt, benefit eligible position in Berkeley.

Benefits

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the accurate and timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
  • Maintains integrity of general ledger and account reconciliations.
  • Ensures the monthly journal entries are accurate and posted in a timely manner.
  • Prepares monthly journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned.
  • Oversees the accurate reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts including but not limited to accruals, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Maintenances the chart of accounts and ensure the accounts are mapped in ERP system.
  • Assists with new user setup in ERP system, Coupa system, and online banking.
  • Oversees the reconciliation of all deposits, and cashes, investigates any discrepancies or problems.
  • Works with the Deputy Controller to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.
  • Provides training and mentoring to accounting staff as needed to ensure their knowledge is expanded and they are exposed to more challenging transactions.
  • Displays excellent customer services and acts as a resource while working closely with billing department, payroll, human resources, procurement, grant accounting, and others within the organization.
  • Identifies and resolves accounting and internal control issues in a timely manner.
  • Supports Deputy Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.
  • Preparation of yearly federal, state, local tax filings, 571L, and others.
  • Other duties as assigned.
