Patient Care Technician I, Full Time, Gastroenterology, Summit

Principal Accountabilities:


Key Responsibilities:

Schedule outpatient and inpatient GI procedures, ensuring all required documentation is completed

Communicate directly with patients to confirm dates, give prep instructions, and answer basic questions

Coordinate with physicians, nurses, and front desk to ensure proper timing and workflow

Verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and ensure all approvals are in place before procedure

Document all communication and scheduling details accurately in the EMR (Epic experience a plus)

Follow up with patients who need to reschedule or cancel

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of different procedure types and required preps

Collaborate with billing and clinical teams to ensure accuracy and compliance

Required: 
1. HS Diploma or equivalent
2. EMT certification and/or nursing assistant certification 

Preferred: 
1. Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written 
2. Patient, compassionate nature 
3. Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and nurses 
4. Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems
