To qualify for the Bookbinder, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must meet the following Screen Out-Element: #1 (Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision) to be considered for this position. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT ELEMENT below is not sufficient, you will not receive further consideration. In addition to the SCREENOUT, applicants must also have the ability to perform the following: Repairs, restores, and conserves rare and delicate books Maintains and sharpens hand tools, such as knives and cutting tools. Provides recommendations for handling, storing, and displaying to prolong the life of books Communicates with clients to understand their preferences and ensuring customer satisfaction. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement to be considered.
