About the role

The Deputy Administrator supports the President Judge and District Court Administrator. Key duties include analyzing the court budget, investigating violations of Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts (AOPC) policies, and supervising Trial Court staff. Additional responsibilities include coordinating weekly criminal case assignments for all Judges in the Criminal Trial Section of the 32nd Judicial District and implementing procedures and programs designed to ensure the efficient processing of cases, motions, petitions, and applications.

Job Duties

  • Prepares and analyzes the Court’s budget.

  • Investigates violations of AOPC policies.

  • Supervises staff of the Criminal Section of the Trial Court.

  • Works closely with the Criminal Liaison Judge daily to resolve issues and problems.  Prepares reports for the President Judge and/or Criminal Liaison Judge as necessary.

  • Collaborates with representatives of other Courts and County departments.

  • Oversees weekly Criminal Arraignments.

  • Assigns criminal cases to Judges in the Criminal Section of the Trial Court.  Accepts or rejects Waivers of Arraignments and coordinates the process with the District Attorney’s Office.

  • Responsible for reviewing daily criminal matters, emergency petitions, bail petitions, and applications. Makes recommendations for the disposition of these matters to the Court.

  • Oversees processing of pertinent forms and assists in resolving unusual or significant problems.

  • Prepares weekly and monthly schedules for the Judges who preside in the Criminal Trial section.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Judicial, Business, or Public Administration, or a closely related field; PLUS

  • Three years of experience in court management or four years of varied office management work, including professional-level experience in budgeting, procurement, and human resource management.

  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training may be considered.

Requirements/ Preferences

  • Satisfactory criminal background check required.

  • Candidates holding an MBA, MJA, MPA, or other master’s degree in a related field and/or JD are preferred.

  • Working knowledge of the Common Pleas Case Management System (CPCMS) preferred.

$63,325 - $86,542
