Scientist - Four-Pole Transistors and MM-Wave Circuits

Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics IAF is one of the leading research facilities worldwide in the fields of III-V semiconductors and diamond. We develop electronic and optoelectronic devices and systems based on modern micro- and nanostructures. Our technologies find application in areas such as security, energy, communication, health, and mobility.

 

What you will do

You will be involved in the development of simplified simulation models of (four-pole) high-frequency components and circuits based on various III-V compound semiconductors in the frequency range from 0.1 GHz up to over 300 GHz. For the characterization of these devices, state-of-the-art laboratories with the latest measurement technology are available at the institute. The simulation models are used in the design of monolithic integrated circuits for a wide range of applications in the fields of sensor systems, communications and aerospace.

 

What you bring to the table

  • You have a successfully completed scientific university degree (Master) in electrical engineering, microsystems engineering, communications engineering, physics or a comparable qualification, ideally with a PhD. 
  • In addition, you bring initial experience in the characterization and modeling of active and passive components in the high-frequency range.
  • Practice in the development of high frequency circuits is an advantage.
  • You have knowledge in using circuit simulation and 3D field simulation programs such as Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS) and CST Microwave Studio.
  • Ideally, you are familiar with acquiring and managing funded projects.
  • Your ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new problems, as well as an independent scientific working style, distinguish you.
  • Business fluent German and English, good teamwork and communication skills as well as enjoyment of experimental work complete your profile.

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis. The position is initially limited to 3 years.
